News

Imagine a mysterious investigation that takes us back to the 18th century.
A truly unique work of art awaits visitors to the Biró-Giczey House in Veszprém: the altarpiece of St. Michael, which has returned after a long time from the church in Zalaszentmihály. This painting is not only a symbol of faith and religious commitment, but also a gem of Baroque art, with details that tell captivating stories. The painting was copied from the original at the beginning of the 20th century as a tribute to this Baroque masterpiece.
A modest but exciting treasure trove awaits those who come to the canon's house to discover our traditions.
The special find debuted at the Night of Museums exhibition in the Work in Progress exhibit in the Veszprém Castle District. Archaeologists unearthed a nearly 400-year-old women's slipper and silk dress in one of the graves in the crypt of the Veszprém Saint Michael Cathedral.
The night when the canon house comes to life… June 22, 2024.

Behind the scenes

Research

It includes all preparatory works aimed at getting to know the monument as thoroughly as possible.

Conceptualization

The information gathered during research is processed during the highly complex planning stage. What can we show from the past? What should we emphasize and what should we put in the background? We present the dilemmas, choices, and alternative solutions.

Execution

Our mission is to achieve that the construction and restoration works should not keep the visitors away, but to bring them closer to the buildings and artefacts, and to present the cultural heritage they carry through the stages of their preservation in a unique way.
